RESPONSIBILITY OVERVIEW:The Assistant Superintendent-Educational Services is responsible for supervising the development, planning implementation and evaluation of the K-12 special education program. Provides leadership for the instructional program; provides support to schools in implementing district adopted curriculum, staff development, and instructional improvement programs; supports the curriculum development and textbook selection process, oversees the district testing program, and federal and local grant monitoring. This is a designated management position that reports to the Superintendent. Oversees the District's compliance with guidelines, mandates and regulations governing instructional matters. Provides leadership and participates in the District's efforts to achieve educational excellence for students.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENT: Possess a valid District Level Administrative credential(Preferred)/Building Level Administrative credentials(Considered).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serves as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet.
Manages and monitors instructional and categorical budgets as assigned(Title and SE grants).
Coordinates all district accreditations/state program reviews.
Serves on the district's negotiating team.
Administers new teacher programs.
Participates in administrative meetings as needed.
Monitors, interprets, and evaluates federal, state and local legislation, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance in the assigned areas of responsibility for the District.
Oversees all state, federal and local grants
Attends all Board of Education meetings.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION
Monitors the goals, objectives, and content of district curricula.
Provides leadership and support to building principals and teachers in implementing curriculum instruction and assessment.
Provides curriculum information and research data on topics related to instruction.
Coordinates and supervises the selection process for instructional resources.
Represents the district in matters related to instruction to the general public, specific groups and individuals.
Prepares reports on all aspects of the district's instructional and assessment programs.
Coordinates all district testing programs.
Coordinates staff development efforts to support curriculum, instruction and assessments.
PUPIL PERSONNEL SERVICES AND DISCIPLINE
Participates in the selection and evaluation of administrative personnel, counselors, and exceptional learner personnel.
Serves as the Title IX compliance officer.
STUDENT SERVICES
Serves as Exceptional Needs Compliance Officer.
Serves as district's 504 Compliance Officer.
Oversees review processes such as RTI
Coordinates and supervises the District's student discipline and expulsion programs.
Coordinates and maintains the District's Instructional Services Procedures Handbook.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Knowledge of and skills in interpreting applicable federal and state laws, and developing district policies and procedures; knowledge of current principles and methods of public school management; comprehensive knowledge of school law, and school district organization. Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and direct a variety of complex technical operations involving efforts of multiple specialized units of a broad management program for a large school district; ability to collect, interpret, and analyze complex technical data, as well as identify potential problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and prepare sound recommendations; ability to make difficult decisions, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Must be able to communicate orally and in writing.
