What are the responsibilities and job description for the Custodian position at Macon Housing Authority?
SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for the cleanliness and attractiveness of the assigned housing community. Light manual work involving the performance of routine housekeeping tasks is performed according to established schedules and procedures. Performs custodial and minor maintenance duties supporting the care and upkeep of buildings, grounds, and facilities. Reports to the Property Manager. Possession on handyman skills is a must.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Dust and clean light fixtures, windows, walls, woodwork, furniture and blinds.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floor surfaces.
- Empty trash receptacles.
- Clean, disinfect, and restock assigned restrooms.
- Sweep sidewalks, curbs and parking areas; Clean out catch basins; Hang screens as needed.
- Responsible for all assigned tools such as jack, air pump, shop rack, etc.
- Perform various grounds maintenance duties such as picking up litter in common areas and in tenant yards, mowing lawn in common areas, and trimming shrubs.
- Other duties as requested:
- Deliver notices and bills to residents.
- Light furnaces and hot water heaters.
- Replace porch light bulbs.
- Assist in tenant inspection of units.
- Assist in the preparation and renovation of vacant units for occupancy.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Any combination of training, experience and education which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, STIPULATIONS Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license, proof of personal auto insurance, and a driving record acceptable to the Authority’s insurance carrier. Must be available to work overtime as business dictates.
Salary : $10 - $12
