The Victim Assistant Therapist (Grant Funded) for the Early Therapeutic Intervention Project at The Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office will play a crucial role in providing early on therapeutic services and support to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. The therapist will work collaboratively with the Victim Advocates, law enforcement, and community organizations to ensure comprehensive care for victims. This role requires a deep understanding of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and an empathetic approach to assist victims on their path to recovery.Counseling Services:
  • Provide appropriate and timely therapeutic interventions to victims with a focus on trauma-informed care.
  • Conduct thorough assessments to determine psychological and emotional needs for both victims and their impacted children.
  • Develop and implement personalized treatment plans for victims, addressing their unique circumstances and trauma experiences.
Crisis Intervention:
  • Offer immediate crisis intervention to victims who are in distress or crisis.
  • Collaborate with Victim Advocates to provide seamless support during crises.
Referrals and Collaboration:
  • Make appropriate referrals to external mental health and support services as needed.
  • Make appropriate referrals for the impacted children.
  • Coordinate with community organizations and professionals to ensure victims receive comprehensive care.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, documenting therapeutic progress and outcomes.
  • Prepare and submit reports on service delivery, progress, and any necessary data for project evaluation.
Education and Training:
  • Provide education and training to victims on coping strategies, self-care, and the impact of trauma.
  • Conduct awareness sessions on mental health and coping strategies within the community.
  • Coordinate with partner organizations to facilitate trauma-informed PACEs (Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences) training for District Attorney’s Office staff, volunteers, and community members. 
Community Engagement:
  • Participate in community outreach efforts to raise awareness of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with community partners.
  • Other duties as assigned by the District Attorney
A minimum of a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work, Counseling, or a related field. Licensed therapist (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) in the State of Georgia. Proven experience in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention. Empathetic and sensitive approach to working with victims.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of the local mental health and victim support resources.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
