QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school graduate having had experience working with special needs students.

2. Cooperative, positive and flexible in student/staff relationships.

3. Patience in instruction and the ability to be satisfied with seeing small increments in progress during the students’ school year.

4. Ability to follow curriculum and instructor’s written and verbal instructions.

5. Good attendance and punctuality record at previous job or educational experience.

6. Must pass criminal history background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

1. Directly responsible to the classroom teacher.

2. Under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher assist in:

a. Operation of classroom

b. Preparing instructional materials

c. Maintaining classroom

d. Instructing/supervising children throughout the school program, which may include physical education/aquatic activities

e. Maintaining good home and school relations

f. May include toileting children, including changing diapers

g. Lunch program

h. Assisting students entering and exiting building

i. Other duties as assigned by the teacher/principal

3. Perform as directed the following health care procedures including but not limited to:

a. Suctioning

b. Gastrostomy tube feeding

c. Catheter care

d. Ostomy care

WORKYEAR: 206 Days

START DATE: ASAP

WORK LOCATION: Bovenschen School

SALARY: Per Macomb Intermediate Federation of Paraprofessionals Master Agreement.
