EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP:
Just cause subject to probationary period

CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME:
Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is currently 8:00 a.m.

General Summary
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, maintains, rehabs, repairs, inspects and monitors county drains, retention basins, storm drain grates and public grounds at multiple locations throughout Macomb County.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Operates front end loaders, backhoes, tractors, bulldozers, sked-steer loaders, excavators, grass cutting machines and equipment, woodchippers, dump trucks, pick-up trucks, winches, utility trailers, chain saws, trenchers, fork lifts and related drain maintenance equipment.

Cleans, dredges, maintains, rehabs, repairs, inspects and monitors county drains and retention basins.

Cleans, maintains, repairs and monitors drain grates.

Performs snow removal and grounds maintenance at Public Works Buildings.

Responds to emergency conditions at drains and pump stations during storm events and pollution spills.

Removes trees and brush on County drains.

Cleans and maintains landscaping and maintenance equipment, trucks, winches and related drain maintenance equipment.

Responds to incoming calls regarding complaints and service requests.

Prepares operational reports and maintains related records.

Operates an automobile to perform assigned job functions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience

  • Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test (GED)

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Previous experience in operating construction equipment

Required Licenses Or Certifications

  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license, and an operable, insured automobile for authorized departmental travel
