Job Function
Manage implementation of College’s media relations program, identifying and cultivating opportunities to enhance the positive visibility of the college and its programs through traditional and digital media outlets, as well as through appropriate social media opportunities.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and evaluating overall media relations strategy, as well as public relations plans developed for specific College initiatives.
- Manages the College’s day-to-day media relations function – identifying, developing and maintaining key news media contacts, and serving as primary initial media contact.
- Working in collaboration with College units and key contacts, develop proactive opportunities for visibility, and to enhance marketing and recruiting objectives through targeted media outlets.
- Develop key message points based on overall College media relations strategy and/or institutional initiatives for both proactive and reactive media opportunities.
- Coach designated College spokespersons to conduct effective interviews with the news media; serve as College spokesperson as appropriate.
- Prepare media materials including news releases, background materials, audio and video clips, photographs and other related materials.
- Manage the College’s media relations contacts databases, with primary responsibility for updating media contact information to maintain currency.
- Monitor media relations results, following up and collecting clips/broadcast segments published traditionally and digitally, and develop weekly media results report.
- Assist in planning and producing special events.
- Perform other writing assignments, including contributing to College publications and website, and speech and presentation development, as needed.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required. Transcripts must be submitted with the application. Copies are acceptable for use during the screening process. If you are selected as a candidate, official transcripts must be submitted before you interview for the position. Major in public relations, journalism, communications or a related field desired.
Qualifications
Five years' experience in public relations, including at least two year’s direct experience in media relations.
Salary : $72,391 - $76,829
