Job Summary:
Manually or by forklift move materials supplies and/or finished goods to designated area(s) within the manufacturing facility. Process shipping/receiving requests according to established procedures.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
- Handles, allocates, and transfers material, equipment, kits, supplies through the production area.
- Handles completed assemblies/jobs between work areas.
- Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight using appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jack, forklift, and by hand as needed.
- Stores items in an orderly and accessible manner in the warehouse
- Verifies the load against the shipping papers, noting in writing any overages, shortages, or damages.
- Process job sheets: Pick, pack, and schedule shipment of palletized goods according to Bill of Lading
- Verifies materials are properly coded according to shipping instructions.
- Coordinate shipments and receipts with production personnel and management.
- May use computer applications and computers to maintain accurate material flow transactions.
- Understands and applies quality product standards.
- Maintaining equipment and work area in clean and safe condition.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Fully understand specifications, shipping and receiving processes, and procedures
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize job needs
- Familiarity with proper packing methods and procedures
- Exercise independent judgment when inspecting parts acceptability for further operations
- Demonstrate a positive attitude that encourages teamwork and support of other employees
- Proficient in basic math skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Time management skills
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED
- Six-months previous manufacturing or warehouse experience required. Shipping and receiving experience a plus.
- Experience with material handling equipment required
- Ability to be certified in forklift, scissor lifts, and manlifts (we will train/test)
- Knowledge of food processing/packaging and/or flexible packaging a plus.
- Experience with ISO Standards preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly lift, bend, reach, twist and turn.
- Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds and pushing pallet jack (electric or manual) with skids weighting in excess of 600 pounds
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand: use hands to fingers, handle or feel: and reach with hands and arms. The employee. frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch: and communicate
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
- The job involves prolong periods of standing.
Work Environment:
- This position works in a manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne paper particles.
- The employee is exposed to various temperatures inside and outside of the building (hot and cold).
- May work at different workstations as production needs require, or shifts from one station to another, during the production process.
