The Buyer works with minimal supervision, handles complex procurement tasks, and contributes to vendor relationship management and continuous improvement initiatives.
Job Duties
- Research and evaluate suppliers to determine best sourcing options based on quality, cost, reliability, and delivery speed.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders; ensure timely and accurate processing of procurement documentation.
- Track, expedite, and manage backorders to maintain optimal inventory levels and avoid disruptions.
- Analyze quotations and proposals, negotiate pricing and terms, and select or recommend vendors.
- Study market trends and supplier performance; contribute to sourcing strategy improvements.
- Maintain up-to-date records of purchases, pricing, delivery, performance metrics, and inventory controls.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations, including safety and environmental standards.
- Actively support and participate in 5S and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Foster positive relationships with internal departments and external suppliers to enhance service and support.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4 to 6 years of progressively responsible purchasing experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex sourcing issues with minimal supervision.
- Prior experience in mentoring or coaching team members is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and planning abilities.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to lead initiatives and influence supplier negotiations.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and procurement best practices preferred.
