Classroom Specialist

Mackin Educational Resources is a well-established, highly respected company in the South Metro that is looking for a qualified Classroom Specialist for our Classroom department.

Responsibilities

• Customer assistance and support regarding all aspects of literacy & curriculum projects and book orders
• Project planning and project management of curriculum-related purchases for schools, school districts, libraries, or educational entities
• Collaborate frequently with customers and sales partners in a specific territory via email, phone, and zoom, to ensure successful outcomes on orders/projects, as well as facilitating the use of Mackin’s products and website
• Produce high-quality written communication that is professional, grammatically correct, clearly communicated, and aligns with best practices in customer service
• Liaison between internal departments such as Quotes, Orders, Processing, and Warehouse, and external consultants or customers
• Attend publisher presentations to ensure highest quality literacy materials are presented to customers
• Develop custom title lists, based on customer requests and needs, which may include decodables, alignment with curriculum/state education standards or subject areas, thematic/inquiry units, guided reading, book clubs, classroom libraries, or leveled libraries
• Read and review newly published titles to provide the most up-to-date title recommendations for customers
• Research and construct customized literacy solutions across grades Pre-K through 12, including book collections, digital content, and organization solutions, to meet a variety of goals for the PK-12 market
• Write research-based content, book reviews, or on education-related topics for Mackin’s Teacher Talk blog
• Create and maintain lists of materials relating to content area subjects, curricular units, genres, and other topics – using reviews, samples
• Assess and develop new educational products and services, and provide support to marketing, social media, and sales initiatives
• Create teacher guides, book activities, and professional development resources as needed
• Research current educational trends, curriculum programs, and policies, as needed and that have an effect on our customer base
• Potential for facilitating product-based professional learning, demonstrating Mackin product and solutions, or leading presentations at conferences
• Potential for some travel to represent Mackin as a vendor at education conferences and events

• Ability to work independently as well as within a team
• Desire to work in a corporate environment where majority of time is spent on individual projects at a computer and working directly with customers via email, Zoom, live chat, and phone calls
• Self-sufficient with computer programs including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Google Slides, and Google Drive; proven ability to learn programs quickly
• Familiarity with the PK-12 education market, educational standards, and reading instruction
• Understanding of how curriculum is implemented and how books and digital resources are utilized in the classroom
• Able to work in a hybrid environment both onsite in Burnsville, MN, and remotely from home

  Minimum Education & Experience

• Minimum: A bachelor's degree in education or a related field, AND at least 1 year of experience as classroom teacher
• Preferred (any of the following): additional education-related certifications, multilingual, a Master's degree, and/or 3 years teaching experience
• Bonus: Experience in sales, the book industry, project management, and/or customer service
