POSITION OVERVIEW
MACKEY is seeking a Bookkeeper to join our Managed Accounting Services Division. This role combines technical excellence with genuine care, working primarily on client books while also supporting internal operations. You'll be part of a collaborative team that believes no one can go it alone – combining your talents with our financial experts to help clients get further, faster.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Bookkeeping
- Process accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and payments
- Verify, allocate, and post transactions to maintain accurate accounts
- Perform monthly close procedures including bank and account reconciliations
- Maintain and balance general ledger by preparing trial balances and reconciling entries
- Maintain historical records by filing documents digitally or physically
- Prepare financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends
- Conduct simple analysis for clients using Excel
- Develop chart of accounts and define bookkeeping policies and procedures for clients
Internal Operations
- Maintain MACKEY's internal books and financial records as needed
- Support process improvements and workflow optimization initiatives
- Contribute to team knowledge sharing and best practice development
- Participate in cross-training opportunities across service lines
Quality & Collaboration
- Ensure all work meets MACKEY's high standards for accuracy, timeliness, and professionalism.
- Collaborate with team members across managed accounting, CFO, and tax services.
- Stay current on accounting standards, QuickBooks updates, and industry best practices.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional presentation
- Minimum of 2 years accounting or bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger and financial reports
- Exceptional knowledge of basic and advanced accounting procedures
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Excel
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
- Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Ability to keep client matters strictly confidential
