Summary
Mackenthun's GM/HBC Specialist is responsible for performing GM/HBC functions according to Department standards and procedures.
Understand and actively support Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by greeting each customer with a smile and offering assistance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
GM/HBC Specialists are responsible for stocking and merchandising products, facing, rotating, restocking, organizing back stock, creating seasonal displays, working with DSD vendors, and cross merchandising with other departments.
Assist Department Manager with ordering, making signs, processing recalls and damage returns.
GM/HBC Specialists also maintain cleanliness of department and shelves, make signs, order products, retrieve/audit/document invoices, manage credits and recalls.
Other Duties
Maintain a positive attitude and provide excellent customer service.
Work cooperatively with other departments.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
Minimum High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
Previous customer service and retail experience preferred.
Must be skilled in basic math.
Must be able to effectively speak, understand and write the English Language. Must be able to communicate professionally and respectfully with manager, co-workers and customers.
Must be able to work independently and as a team, have solid problem-solving skills, and excellent decision making capabilities.
Must be able to prioritize and efficiently perform duties.
Must have an interest in food and promoting Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience for customers and coworkers.
Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Windows operating system, computer skills including Word, Excel and Internet experience required.
Minimize department losses due to improper product handling and storage.
Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources and image.
Must be willing to learn the characteristics and qualities of the products and services Mackenthun's offers.
Physical Demands
Constant standing/walking/talking/hearing for long periods of time.
Frequent bending at waist, reaching with hands and arms, above shoulders/below waist, crouching,/stooping/kneeling, climbing stairs, climbing ladders, and lifting/carrying up to 30 lbs. pushing and/or pulling 1,500 lbs. with use of pallet jack.
This position requires close/distance/peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision.
Training
Training provided on current GM/HBC Department standards and procedures including SuperValu Harbor system, inventory and ordering equipment, equipment use, personal safety and harassment prevention.
Equipment Used
Box cutter, baler, compactor, ladder, step stool, pallet jack, calculator, PC, and ordering equipment. (Age Restrictions Apply)
Work Environment
Must be able to work in a variety of environments including hot and cold temperatures, on terrazzo flooring in a smoke-free facility, individually or in teams in a multifaceted and fast paced setting.
Availability
- This position may require working evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the needs of the business.
- Seasonal work now through January 24, 2026
- 4-10 hours a week on average.
