Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy construction equipment including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, loaders, and other industrial machinery.
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire service, and hydraulic system checks to prevent breakdowns.
- Utilize OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, transmission, and engine issues effectively.
- Fabricate custom parts or modifications using hand tools and welding equipment to meet specific repair needs.
- Repair and maintain diesel engines, air brake systems, suspensions, transmissions, HVAC systems, and other critical components.
- Operate power tools and heavy lifting equipment safely to disassemble or assemble machinery components during repairs or upgrades.
- Document all service work performed in maintenance logs and communicate clearly with team members regarding equipment status or required follow-up.
Qualifications
- Proven mechanic experience with heavy construction equipment or industrial machinery; dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT), OEM standards, and familiarity with schematics for troubleshooting complex systems.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding, soldering, and assembly of parts.
- Experience working with excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors-trailers, farm machinery, and other heavy equipment.
- Proficiency in automotive diagnostics for diesel engines, transmissions, brakes (including air brake systems), hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical components.
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; experience with vehicle maintenance software is a plus.
- Comfortable performing heavy lifting safely using appropriate tools and safety procedures; strong attention to safety standards at all times.
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with project managers or clients regarding equipment issues; team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills.
