What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Programmer position at Machinist Group?
The Machinist Group is an ISO certified machine shop that is a high-mix, low-volume custom job shop environment. There are 17 CNC machines; both mill and lathe, including large-format and 4th axis machines, and a waterjet. We are currently seeking an additional CNC programmer to keep up with company growth.
As a CNC Programmer, you will be responsible for reading and interpreting technical blueprints and programming for multiple CNC machines. On occasion, you may also be responsible for setting up and operating the CNC machines, and maintaining and repairing equipment as needed.
Work Environment: This role requires working in a manufacturing environment and may involve standing for extended periods and lifting heavy objects. PPE is either provided or reimbursed, and must be worn at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interpreting customer drawings/blueprints and understanding the specifications and requirements
- Designing and programming computer numerical controlled (CNC) machine tools using our CAD/CAM software, .
- Interacting with the team of Machinists & Operators, to ensure successful programming and operation
- Creating and maintaining documentation and records of CNC programs
- Modifying existing programs to enhance efficiency or to adapt to new production requirements
- Working with QC to verify the produced components meet conformity to customer specifications
- Troubleshooting machine malfunctions and conducting minor repairs
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Communicate effectively with team members and management
- Adhere to all quality and safety codes
Qualifications:
- Education or equivalent experience in CAD/CAM programming
- Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints
- Strong knowledge of CNC programming and machine operation
- Skilled in the use of measurement tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers)
- A keen eye for detail and precision
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
Salary is negotiable, depending on experience. We are willing to train the right person, as long as you come in with some fundamental CAD/CAM programming experience or education!
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
