Role Description The Technical Sales and Service Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL. This position combines technical field service with consultative sales, including diagnosing and repairing CNC and machine tool equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and supporting installations. The technician will conduct onsite visits to troubleshoot equipment issues, perform test cuts, and provide applications support and training to customers. Day-to-day responsibilities include communicating technical findings, recommending equipment or service solutions, and coordinating with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate customer support. The role requires regular interaction with customers to understand their production needs, demonstrate equipment capabilities, and contribute to long-term service relationships.
Qualifications
- Strong Maintenance & Repair and Maintenance skills for CNC and machine tool equipment.
- Proficiency in Troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, and control system issues.
- Experience in Field Service, including onsite diagnostics, installations, and applications support.
- Excellent Customer Service skills, with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and build trust.
- Basic understanding of CNC machinery, automation solutions, and industrial safety practices.
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Comfort with traveling (some overnight required) to customer sites and working in production environments.
- Relevant technical training or certification in industrial technology, machining, mechatronics, or a related field; prior machine tool or CNC experience is highly beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and in a team.
