Position Summary
Machine Tech Services is seeking an experienced Fitter/Welder to join our fabrication team in Broussard, Louisiana. This position is responsible for fitting, fabricating, and welding custom components and assemblies used in the oil & gas, industrial, and manufacturing industries. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and capable of producing high-quality work from blueprints and fabrication drawings.
Essential Responsibilities
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and weld symbols.
- Fit and assemble structural steel, piping, and custom-machined components prior to welding.
- Perform MIG, TIG, Flux-Core, and Stick welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum as required.
- Verify dimensions and maintain proper tolerances throughout fabrication.
- Operate fabrication equipment including band saws, ironworkers, grinders, drill presses, plasma cutters, and oxy-fuel cutting equipment.
- Perform tack welding and final welding to applicable company and customer specifications.
- Inspect completed welds for quality, accuracy, and workmanship.
- Work closely with machinists, engineers, and supervisors to complete projects on schedule.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
- Assist with shop maintenance and other fabrication duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of fitting and welding experience in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
- Proficient in layout, measuring, and fitting techniques.
- Experience with MIG, TIG, Flux-Core, and Stick welding.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools including tape measures, squares, calipers, and levels.
- Experience operating common fabrication equipment and overhead cranes is preferred.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a manufacturing environment.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) are a plus but not required.

- Pressure-containing components
- Stainless steel and aluminum fabrication
- API and AWS quality standards
Physical Requirements
- Stand, bend, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
- Lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Work in a shop environment with exposure to heat, noise, and welding fumes while using appropriate PPE.
