Screen Cleaning, Recoating, and Screen Burning Technician

Job Summary
The Screen Cleaning, Recoating, and Screen Burning Technician is responsible for preparing, reclaiming, and maintaining screen printing screens to ensure high-quality production. This role involves cleaning used screens, applying emulsion, exposing artwork, and inspecting screens for accuracy and quality while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and reclaim used screens by removing ink, emulsion, and ghost images using approved chemicals and equipment.
- Inspect screens for damage, mesh defects, and frame integrity before recoating.
- Apply emulsion evenly to screens using manual or automatic coating equipment.
- Dry coated screens in a controlled environment to ensure proper emulsion curing.
- Burn (expose) screens using exposure units according to artwork specifications.
- Wash out exposed screens and inspect for proper stencil development and image quality.
- Perform touch-ups and block out pinholes or imperfections before screens are released to production.
- Label, organize, and store prepared screens for future use.
- Maintain exposure units, washout booths, pressure washers, and reclaim equipment.
- Mix, handle, and dispose of chemicals safely in accordance with company and OSHA guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate with the art department and press operators to ensure screens meet production requirements.
- Assist with inventory of screen room supplies and report equipment maintenance needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous screen printing or screen room experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain consistent quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of screen printing processes is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements.
- Comfortable working around cleaning chemicals, water, and production equipment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with emulsion coating and exposure units.
- Knowledge of mesh counts, emulsion types, and exposure times.
- Familiarity with screen reclaim chemicals and pressure washing equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot screen quality issues before production.

- Maintain high-quality standards with minimal screen defects.

Pay: From $13.00 per hour
