Job Title: Senior Accountant
Department: Tax, Audit, and/or Advisory Services
Reports To: Supervisor and Manager positions
Job Type: Full-time, Primarily Onsite with Flexible Work-From-Home As Needed
Position Overview:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for contributing to the achievement of the firm’s objectives including:
- A variety of accounting, auditing and tax assignments under the supervision of other personnel.
- Contribute to tax preparation, audit field work, client bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and general advisory support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare individual and business tax returns.
- Preparation of financial statements.
- Perform audit procedures as assigned by Supervisors/Managers
- Bookkeeping and client write-up monthly/yearly
- Perform specific tasks for clients as assigned by supervisor (ex. contractor’s license)
- Supervise/mentor staff accountants on small jobs
- Plan and perform small audits
- Perform initial review procedures prepared by Staff Accountants
- Research
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting
- CPA license or in active progress toward CPA certification (successful completion of one or more exam sections)
- Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience
- Proficiency with computer and the ability to learn various software applications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong research skills
- Positive, can-do attitude with willingness to “dig in” and get the work done
- Basic understanding, comprehension, and the ability to articulate auditing, accounting and tax concepts
- Developing or emerging leadership skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a public accounting firm or finance/accounting environment.
- Familiarity with tax preparation software and/or audit tools.
Success Measures:
- Completed the engagements assigned to him/her with minimal supervision
- Received positive feedback from his/her clients and supervisors
- Taken “ownership” of assigned projects
- Exhibited leadership and successful supervision of others
Work Environment:
Senior Accountants may work on-site, remotely, or in a hybrid setting depending on firm policy and client needs. Engagements may involve direct client communication, team collaboration, and occasional travel to client sites.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $72,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
