DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

• A Scratch Baker will perform bakery functions such as mixing, scaling, proofing, baking, frying, and finishing on one or more bakery items as directed, according to standard formulas and procedures.
• Knowledgeable of basic bakery terms and processes such as fermentation, bench time, proofing, and effects of temperature variations on bakery items.
• A Baker will Assist in making orders for bakery ingredients and supplies and maintain inventory levels in accordance with department and store policy.
• Capable of filling, rotating, arranging and merchandising displays and display cases.
• Possess knowledge of pricing, dating, wrapping or bagging of all bakery products in accordance with Bakery Merchant.
• Continually be proactive on self-development so that additional duties and responsibilities can be assumed.
• Comply with all company safety and accident prevention policies, reporting all accidents to the Bakery Merchant.
• A Baker will clean and sanitize areas of bakery and equipment as directed by Bakery Merchant.
• Maintain all department equipment in good working order and recommend repair of equipment when deemed necessary.

PHYSICAL/SENSORY DEMANDS

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable store environment with the possibility of frequent exposure to hot or cold conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive motion and eye, hand and foot coordination; hear and respond to customer inquiries. Also requires standing, walking and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 30 pounds from location to location.
