ABOUT THE ROLE:
Dorchester County Public Schools is seeking a passionate and creative long-term math guest educator to join our vibrant school community. This position will cover an extended leave and offers the opportunity to inspire students through visual arts education. The ideal candidate will foster artistic expression, encourage creativity, and maintain a structured and engaging classroom environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative procedures and board polices.
- Maintains a classroom environment that is safe, orderly, and conducive to effective learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of all students.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes as scheduled.
- Follows teacher’s lesson plans and daily schedule; will require lesson plan creation and grading.
- Follows procedures and guidelines listed in the Dorchester County Guest Educator Handbook.
- Deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with curriculum standards.
- Assess student progress and provide feedback.
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff as needed.
- Completes reports as required.
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Must possess a High School diploma or GED; Associate degree preferred.
- Must pass a criminal background check.
- Must complete the Safe Schools Training Program.
- Must attend the DCPS Guest Educator Workshop.
- Previous teaching or classroom experience preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Passion for math and working with students.
Pay Schedule: Starting rates $18 per hour, depending on level of education. Increases to $26 per hour, depending on level of education, after 25 days in the same position (retroactive to the first day of the assignment).
