Duties
- Safely operate different types of trucks, including tractor-trailers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, tankers, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other specialized vehicles.
- Load and unload freight with precision, ensuring cargo is secured properly for transport.
- Drive assigned routes confidently while adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle condition and report any issues immediately.
- Manage delivery schedules efficiently by planning optimal routes and adjusting as needed for traffic or weather conditions.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance records.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, warehouse staff, and clients to coordinate delivery times and resolve any issues promptly.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in commercial driving, including delivery driver roles with route driving responsibilities.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with necessary endorsements for operating tractor-trailers, tankers, or refrigerated trailers.
- Skilled in manual transmission operation and comfortable handling various truck configurations such as flatbeds or dump trucks.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures including load & unload processes for different cargo types.
- Ability to operate additional equipment like forklifts when required for loading or unloading cargo.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to trucking, including DOT regulations and vehicle inspections.
