What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manufacturing Buyer - Purchasing Agent position at Macawber Engineering, Inc.?
Macawber Engineering Inc., a small international manufacturer with 45 years in business, is looking for a Technical Buyer to be part of a team that builds custom-designed pneumatic conveying systems and other industrial equipment.
The Buyer is independently responsible for procurement of components, custom manufactured materials, and other supplies related to company operations, customer projects and manufacturing processes.

You will start with 3 weeks of PTO for the first year, increasing to 5 weeks after 10 years.
The company currently pays 90% of your health insurance cost, contributes towards your 401k as well as rewards with an annual bonus.
Normal work schedule 4x9hrs / 1x4hrs (Friday).
Position includes:
Obtains quotes, places, and expedites purchase orders.
Negotiates pricing, contracts and terms and conditions with suppliers.
Strong focus on meeting production schedules and contractual deadlines with the ability to act with a sense of urgency, track current orders, communicate on any issues and in general, be proactive and resourceful with all areas related to the position.
Liaises with suppliers to evaluate their performance, source new suppliers, and develop and maintain relationships with suppliers.
Analyses data and creates reports pertinent to purchasing or to support a recommendation of for change or improvements.
Manages inventory and ensures sufficient inventory levels are maintained.
Resolves purchasing issues in a timely manner.
Requires a high level of proficiency with Excel and the ability to use in-house ERP system.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Basic technical skills an advantage.
Other duties as assigned.
