JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Title III Campus Emergent Bilingual Instructional Coach
WAGE/HOUR STATUS: Exempt
REPORTS TO: Campus Principal
PAY GRADE: Teacher salary schedule (187 10 days)
PRIMARY PURPOSE: To advance student achievement at the assigned campus for Emergent
Bilingual students by providing direct instruction to Emergent Bilingual students and direct support to
administrators, classroom teachers, and other support staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
? Valid Texas Bilingual Teacher Certificate or ESL Certificate, required
? Master's Degree, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
? Specific knowledge of education laws, policies, procedures and effective teaching practices for EB
students
? Specific knowledge of the English Language Proficiency Standards and Linguistic
Accommodations
? Specific Knowledge of the Proficiency Level Descriptors (PLDS)
? Knowledge of research based instructional practices, and techniques for making content
comprehensible for EB students
? Knowledge of Dual Language and research-based practices to support campuses with
implementation and sustainment of programs
? Ability to plan, and facilitate professional learning related to EB programs across content areas
? Ability to conduct deep data analysis and create plans for instructional targets based on identified
needs
? Ability to articulate program goals to campus and district stakeholders
? Ability to work cooperatively with others
? Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Minimum Experience:
At least three (3) years successful experience as a teacher serving EB students
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Management:
1. Assist in the implementation and coordination of the EB Programs at the campus level
2. Assist teachers in understanding assessment results and how to use those results for targeted
instructional planning using best practices as identified in research,

3. Assist campuses in the implementation of campus improvement plans to decrease the academic
performance gaps between EB students and other student groups
4. Assist in writing, implementing and evaluating state and federal projects
5. Provide technical support to principals, and other administrators in what to look for in effective
EB classrooms
6. Conduct classroom snapshots, instructional rounds and/or walk-throughs for the purpose of
identifying patterns in instructional practice across grade-level and/or campuses
7. Create plan for enrichment opportunities for EB students through optional extended year activities
8. Conduct a needs assessment for the elementary programs that service EB students
School/Organizational Climate:
9. Demonstrate sound interpersonal skills in relating to campus and district staff, principals and the
community
10. Work with principals, and counselors to create an open, cooperative atmosphere for effective
communication
School/Organizational Improvement:
11. Assess the effectiveness of testing programs in relation to EB programs
12. Promote high expectations for teachers and students
13. Work with other members of the core content support staff to better serve needs of EB students
14. Coordinate, prepare and implement and/or conduct professional development activities for
assigned campus
Personnel Management:
15. Assist in the recruitment and selection of highly qualified EB staff
Student Management:
16. Provide direct instruction to EB students on language acquisition and/or content knowledge
17. Facilitate development of criteria for proper student placement
18. Ensure that appropriate support services are made available to students who are English learners
19. Assist teachers with planning for total participation techniques
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Must maintain emotional control and
exercise reasoning and problem solving skills while under stress. Must demonstrate ability to
communicate effectively (verbal and written). Should be able to interpret procedures and analyze data for
decision-making. Regularly lifting of 15 to 45 pounds of instructional or presentation materials.

Safety: Contribute to the prevention of accidents and injuries by observing safety rules and District
policy, practicing the principles and skills taught in safety training, wearing personal protective equipment
