Lead Dispatcher

Position Summary

The Lead Dispatcher will coordinate scheduling and delivery for local rental branches in Indianapolis. The person in this role will have a strong customer service focus and the ability to multi-task in order to meet our customers' needs. This position will supervise another dispatcher, drivers and yard workers.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

• Responsible for scheduling machine deliveries, pick-ups and inter-company transfers. Responsible for ensuring store-to-store transfers have corresponding, accurate paperwork
• Develops policies, programs, and procedures for transportation system, including schedules, rates, routes, assignments of drivers and vehicles, and other terminal operations
• Assist other IN rental branches with large projects and fill in when necessary at the local Indianapolis rental stores
• Communicate with drivers to ensure highest customer satisfaction with regards to on-time deliveries, drop and pick-up points, equipment needs, etc. Responsible for ensuring that pick-up guidelines are adhered to
• Responsible for coordinating with customers on machine security if pick-ups are not going to be met in a timely manner
• Ensures load maximization and route efficiency
• Maintains communication between all IN rental branches, customers, sales and service
• Maintains drivers' fuel logs and forwards to manager
• Manage drivers' daily start and finish times to ensure maximum efficiency and that customer expectations are met
• Maintain all DOT standards and requirements, as well as file and request state hauling permits as necessary for the location of the delivery
• Responsible for monitoring driver paperwork; including, but not limited to daily inspection logs, rental contracts are updated and signed, condition reports are complete and signed
• Serve as back-up for inside sales/rental counter when volume is high in order to ensure customer satisfaction

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Responsible for supervising, directing and motivating departmental staff. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, conducting performance evaluations, assessing skills and competencies, and administering company policies and procedures

Position Requirements

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience (4 years)
• At least 5 years of experience, with at least 1 managing
• 3 or more years of high-volume dispatch experience
• Ability to travel to different branch locations occasionally
