The Equipment Sales Specialist, Packaging’s responsibilities include traveling to client locations to consult and create solutions, guidance, and advice for the sale of Packaging Equipment. Packaging Specialists must work to find new sales leads, through business directories, client referrals, etc. Continually building relationships with internal and external contacts and develop ongoing relations with the sale and management team and our manufacturer partners.

- Develop and execute territory business plan for growing the packaging equipment business in all the markets covered by this position.
- Schedule and manage time and coverage of the markets in an efficiently planned and effective manner.
- Identify and develop prospective customers through marketing and prospecting new opportunities.
- Work with account managers in consulting with their current customers to develop automation opportunities.
- Identify customer needs and successfully recommend value added solutions that will improve processes and profitability.
- Engage with vendor partners as needed in creating the best automation solution(s) to present to a customer.
- Develop a presentation plan for a customer to show improved processes with the automation solution that provides a savings in material, labor, shipping, or other areas of their business.
- Provide all gathered documented to HQ equipment support for creating an equipment proposal.
- Submit documentation to credit for approval to quote a customer with terms as needed.
- Present proposals and provide samples and/or demonstrations as needed for selling the solution.
- Track all prospects and opportunities and submit to management from discovery through the close using tools/CRM as required.
- Create and follow equipment order documentation process to submit orders to HQ equipment support.
- Follow the progression of the order from placement to delivery and installation.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing as needed when applicable.
- Collaborate with equipment and consumable suppliers to target, assess, present and close business.
- Participate in product and sales training and all branch sales meetings.
- Participate in manufacturer equipment sales trainings for continued education of current products and equipment trends.
- Develop customer, vendor, and Mac Papers Pkg business relationships.
- Track, post, and submit expenses using the tools provided.
- Other duties as required.
Education And/or Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Proven track record delivering on defined sales objectives.
- 3-5 years’ experience in major packaging equipment and automation.
- Experience in packaging distribution sales preferred.
- B2B consultative sales experience with successful track record of sales and territory growth.
- Strong interpersonal skills, time management experience and a self-starter.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Competitive, self-confident and growth oriented.
- Ability to effectively utilize order entry systems and respond to emails.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- 2-4 years of experience in selling to businesses
- Must have intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills.
- Ability to prioritize and complete assignments accurately and in a timely manner.
- Able to effectively handle multiple priorities with a strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work alone, and with a team.
- Must be able to read and communicate in English, for safe and effective performance of the job and business operations.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and criminal background check.
