Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Technician to join our healthcare team. This role involves providing high-quality patient care in a clinical setting, supporting optometrists, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Duties
- Oversee daily exam room scheduling to ensure maximum exam room utilization.
- Escort patients into exam rooms and perform initial portion of the exam per doctor's instructions, including Patient History, Visual Acuity, Dilation, and pretesting.
- As instructed, perform other diagnostic tests such as visual fields, auto-refraction, tonometry, fundus photos, and Optical Coherence Tomography.
- Monitor patient flow by directing doctor to the next patient, overseeing doctor's schedules, checking waiting room to ensure that all patients have checked in and are not kept waiting an unreasonable length of time.
- Verify corrective lens perscriptions by using lesnometer.
- Assist in screening patient phone calls or walk-ins and answering patient questions.
- Record, preload, and/or scan medical information in the Electronic Health Record.
- Monitor, order, and restock inventory of contact lenses.
- Dispense contact lenses and instruct patients in the care and use of contact lenses.
- Monitor inventory of medical forms and patient education materials and reorder from appropriate sources.
- Monitor and restock inventory of medical supplies and samples in exam rooms, ensure rooms are clean, organized and stocked.
- Ensure exam room equipment, lights, etc. are in proper working order.
- Review invoices for price and receipt of ordered materials. File receipts in proper order.
- Send monthly recall cards for eye exams.
- File patient charts.
- Cross train in other areas of the office.
- Accept and perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Experience
- Previous experience in eye care or as an optometric technician or medical facility experience is preferred.
