This role is based in our Kernersville, NC office and is a full-time, on-site position[CG1] .
What You Will Do
The Estimator owns the estimating process from start to finish. You will receive bid invitations, read and interpret structural drawings, and use Bid Wizard estimating software to build complete, accurate cost estimates for structural steel projects. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows the steel industry, understands what it takes to win work profitably, and takes pride in a thorough, well-built bid.
● Review incoming bid invitations and qualify opportunities
● Read and interpret structural and architectural drawings and project specifications
● Perform detailed material takeoffs using Bid Wizard estimating software
● Build complete estimates from start to finish, including material, labor, fabrication, and erection costs
● Solicit and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing
● Prepare and submit bid proposals on schedule
● Track bid results and maintain organized estimate records
● Communicate with general contractors, project managers, and vendors throughout the bid process
What You Bring
● 3 to 4 years of estimating experience in the structural steel or related construction industry
● Proven ability to read structural drawings and perform accurate takeoffs
● Experience with estimating software; Bid Wizard experience strongly preferred
● Solid understanding of steel fabrication and erection costs
● Strong attention to detail, organization, communication and follow-through
● Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines at once
Compensation and Benefits
● The base salary for this role typically ranges from $70,000 to $90,000 annually, depending on experience. This role is eligible for overtime.
