Position Overview

We’re seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to design, optimize, and support the ultra-low-latency Linux systems that power our trading strategies. This individual will play a critical role in tuning kernel and hardware performance, enhancing real-time market data pipelines, optimizing network throughput, and ensuring our infrastructure delivers predictable, microsecond-level performance.

MA Capital employs individuals with a passion for innovation and solving hard technical problems. If you’re looking for a place where your deep systems expertise will directly shape the performance of trading infrastructure, MA Capital is your home.

Key Responsibilities

Linux Performance Engineering: Design, deploy, and maintain Linux systems optimized for ultra-low latency and deterministic performance.

Kernel & OS Tuning: Perform CPU isolation, IRQ affinity, NUMA alignment, huge page configuration, BIOS optimization, and power-state tuning.

Profiling & Diagnostics: Analyze system performance using perf, ftrace, eBPF, systemtap, and other advanced tools.

Hardware Optimization: Configure high-performance servers, optimize NIC offloads, PCIe layout, and memory settings, and validate improvements with microsecond-level benchmarks.

Networking & Market Data: Support high-speed multicast market data environments, tune TCP/UDP stack parameters, and partner with developers/traders to optimize performance across OS and hardware layers.

Automation & Observability: Automate provisioning with Ansible/Terraform and maintain monitoring via Prometheus, custom exporters, low-latency logging, and precise time sync (PTP, PPS).

Reliability & Support: Ensure high availability for latency-critical systems, contribute to on-call rotation, develop documentation and runbooks, and lead root-cause investigations for performance anomalies.

Required Qualifications

Linux Internals Expertise: 7–10 years of experience with Linux engineering (RHEL/Rocky/Alma, Ubuntu) and deep knowledge of scheduling, NUMA, memory, networking, and filesystems.

Low-Latency Tuning: Proven experience optimizing production systems for ultra-low latency and high throughput.

Kernel & Hardware Skills: Strong proficiency with kernel parameters, sysctl tuning, IRQ balancing, NIC configuration, and CPU topology.

Scripting & Automation: Advanced scripting abilities in Bash and Python.

High-Performance Hardware: Experience with high-end NICs, FPGA adapters, NVMe storage, or performance-critical compute systems.

Real-Time Systems: Solid understanding of market data, multicast networking, or other real-time, high-throughput environments.

Profiling & Debugging Tools: Familiarity with perf, ftrace, bcc/eBPF, sar, strace, tcpdump, etc.

Why Join Us?

Professional Development: Work directly on performance-critical systems at the core of a fast-growing proprietary trading firm.

High-Performance Environment: Build and tune infrastructure engineered for ultra-low-latency execution and real-time data processing.

Startup Culture: Agile, entrepreneurial environment with the ability to innovate quickly and have meaningful ownership.

Cutting-Edge Technology: Opportunity to work with advanced Linux systems, NIC technologies, kernel bypass frameworks, and high-performance hardware.

Comprehensive Health Coverage: Includes medical, dental, and vision insurance.

401(k) Retirement Plan: Helping you and your family plan for a secure financial future.
