Sheetmetal Mechanic

TradeSource is actively hiring experienced Sheet Metal Workers for 2 long-term commercial construction projects in both the New London and Windsor, CT areas. This is not short-term or sporadic work—we are looking for skilled tradespeople who want consistent hours, steady project flow, and long-term opportunity.

What You'll Be Doing

• Fabricate, assemble, and install commercial sheet metal systems on active construction projects while maintaining production schedules and quality standards.
• Install HVAC ductwork systems, including rectangular and round duct, fittings, transitions, and supports according to project specifications and field conditions.
• Measure, cut, layout, and install sheet metal components, ensuring accurate fitment, proper alignment, and compliance with mechanical drawings and jobsite requirements.
• Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and shop layouts to determine duct routing, material requirements, and installation methods.
• Install hangers, supports, and bracing systems to properly secure ductwork and ensure long-term system stability and code compliance.
• Perform duct fabrication and assembly work, including modifications, adjustments, and field corrections as needed to maintain installation quality.
• Coordinate with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general construction trades to ensure proper system integration and avoid jobsite conflicts.
• Identify and resolve installation issues or layout discrepancies before they impact project timelines, inspections, or system performance.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following OSHA requirements and all project-specific safety procedures.
• Work independently or as part of a sheet metal crew while maintaining strong attendance, productivity, and professional jobsite standards.

What We're Looking For

• Experienced Sheet Metal Worker (SM1/SM2) with commercial construction experience and the ability to perform high-quality duct installation and fabrication with limited supervision.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC duct systems, including layout, installation, and field modification of sheet metal components.
• Ability to measure, cut, and assemble ductwork accurately, including experience with hand tools, power tools, and fabrication equipment.
• Experience reading and interpreting mechanical blueprints and shop drawings and translating them into accurate field installations.
• Solid understanding of HVAC installation practices, airflow principles, and construction methods with the ability to troubleshoot jobsite issues.
• OSHA 10 certification is preferred, with willingness to complete any additional safety training required for the project.
• Reliable transportation and dependable attendance are required due to the long-term nature of the projects in both New London and Windsor.
• Strong work ethic and commitment to long-term commercial work are essential—we are looking for professionals who want steady, ongoing employment.
