What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electrical Engineer - Power and Controls position at M2X Energy Inc.?
About the Company
Founded with the backing of Breakthrough Energy Ventures, M2X Energy is tackling one of the world’s toughest problems: reducing natural gas flaring while creating viable, low-carbon fuels. We’re a fast-growing, mission-driven team that values collaboration, inclusion, and innovation. We know our strength comes from our people, and we invest in their growth. You’ll join a supportive culture where you can take ownership, develop your skills, and see the impact of your work every day.
About the Role
At M2X Energy, we’re rethinking how fuels and chemicals are made — turning stranded natural gas into valuable, low-carbon products. As an Electrical Engineer, you’ll design and implement the electrical and control systems that power M2X’s modular gas-to-liquid conversion plants. From controller programming to high- and low-voltage panel design, you’ll ensure our systems run safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll collaborate with engineers, fabricators, and suppliers to bring cutting-edge equipment to life. If you’re passionate about power conversion & controls, thrive on solving complex challenges, and want your work to have a global impact, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
- Design & Develop: Architect control system strategies and PLC programs to enable remote monitoring and system control.
- Build & Integrate: Develop electrical systems, including motors, converters (AC-DC, DC-AC, DC-DC), drives, sensors, enclosures, and wiring.
- Test & Troubleshoot: Modify PLC programs, debug issues with sensors and network devices, and resolve integration challenges.
- Collaborate & Document: Partner with panel shops, technicians, and engineers to improve designs, create documentation, and streamline FAT processes.
- Analyze & Improve: Collect and interpret system data to implement predictive maintenance and reduce lifecycle costs.
- Optimize Operations: Propose design changes that shorten assembly/FAT time and drive CapEx/OpEx reductions.
