Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel structures for industrial, commercial, educational, and municipal facilities.
- Develop calculations, drawings, and technical specifications in accordance with applicable building codes and standards (AISC, ASCE, IBC, etc.).
- Coordinate with architects, fabricators, contractors, and project managers to ensure design intent and constructability.
- Review and approve shop drawings, connection designs, and field modifications.
- Conduct site visits and inspections as needed to verify structural integrity and compliance.
- Mentor junior engineers and detailers providing technical guidance to project teams.
- Prepare and stamp engineering drawings and documentation in compliance with state regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Michigan required.
- Additional state P.E. licenses a plus.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in structural steel design and engineering.
- Proficiency with structural design software such as RISA, STAAD, or RAM Steel, and familiarity with Tekla Structures, or Revit a plus.
- Strong understanding of AISC design codes, connection detailing, and fabrication processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail; and ability to work in a team environment.
