Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with tankers, flatbeds, refrigerated trailers, or dump trucks to transport crude oil and other freight across assigned routes.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using appropriate equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks, ensuring secure and compliant transportation.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, including checking manual transmission systems, brakes, tires, and safety equipment.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, cargo details, route information, and inspection reports in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Follow all safety protocols during loading, unloading, and transit to prevent spills or accidents; respond promptly to any incidents or emergencies.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route updates, delivery schedules, or vehicle issues to ensure smooth operations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and company policies while demonstrating professionalism in every aspect of driving and cargo handling.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving with a focus on freight delivery; prior experience with tanker trucks or crude oil transportation is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and safely over long distances.
- Familiarity with various trailer types including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and tanker units.
- Experience in load & unload procedures using forklifts or other material handling equipment is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of route driving regulations, safety standards, and cargo securement practices for hazardous materials.
