Purpose (Objective)

We are looking for a Operations Supervisor in 5707 Waterford District Dr, Miami, FL 33126 USA. Your mission will be to:

This position is responsible for supervising the sensory program to ensure high quality yet efficient processes. This position plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing programs as well as directs and coordinates program activities.

Main Activities

▪ Maintain knowledge of and successfully support local and the entire network in all sensory consulting efforts.

▪ Manage the proposal process by writing proposals and ensuring proposals are delivered within the agreed upon time frame of the client.

▪ Support all clients as we grow business and increase sensory offerings and train lab to implement program.

▪ Support Merieux NurtriSciences in the area of education, such as teaching and the writing of classes.

▪ Support sales in an effort in increase sensory offerings and revenue.

▪ Respond to sales leads from various sources. This includes uncovering the contact’s need, reason for the need, and other business relevant details which will increase the chances to win research projects. Communication should be prompt.

▪ Conduct calls to existing clients in order to build and maintain successful relationships. Participate on key account teams as needed and work with marketing to coordinate and manage special projects as requested.

▪ Perform Other Duties As Required.

Communication: This position has frequent contact with client service personnel to provide results, answer questions, check on progress of special projects, and obtain any information needed to proceed with the appropriate analytical and statistical procedure. Occasional contact with the client is necessary to obtain or provide information, explain procedures and discuss specific requirements for testing analysis. Regular contact with vendor representatives is required to recommend and approve new products and supplies for testing. Occasional contact with the corporate office is needed to answer inquiries about administrative and standard operating procedures. Regular contact with management personnel at other locations is necessary to provide information about sensory and consumer testing.

YOUR PROFILE

Profile

Knowledge:

A thorough knowledge of sensory and consumer science is required to manage the activities of the program. A broad knowledge of sensory is necessary to conduct objective-appropriate testing and obtain accurate analysis and results. Basic food science and statistical knowledge is needed to design sensory studies and analyze and interpret results. General working knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and collection tool is needed to review analysis results and correct any discrepancies. Client relations skills are necessary to answer client questions and advise of certain processes. Proficiency in Standard Operation Methods, gained as a sensory or consumer scientist and supervisor, is needed to supervise the activities of the laboratory. Budgeting skills are necessary to determine laboratory budget and to ensure financial efficiency. Organizational skills are essential to maintain smooth operations.

The incumbent ensures that methods are sound, relevant to the objective, and the analysis is performed within the specific time limit and results are accurate. The incumbent uses technical expertise to determine solutions to problems that occur in the laboratory. Difficulties can result from clients requesting different procedures than are normally performed in the laboratory. The incumbent will be called on to make recommendations and use reference journals, professional publications and industry contacts to locate the need methodology to meet testing objective. Problems can result when tasks are not completed within the specified time constraint or when information, or materials, to solve problems are not available. Timely resolutions of analysis problems are important to improve client relations. Company operating procedures and industry standard testing methods can provide information for decision making with special or difficult requests. The incumbent must verify that all the procedures have taken place correctly and new procedures are researched to obtain the most effective testing process.

The incumbent makes decisions using independent judgment regarding the future action of the laboratory. The incumbent arranges tasks for the program and plans future actions that will improve the efficiency and quality of operations. Changes in a decision are discussed with laboratory management before implementation. Decisions impact the laboratory personnel and client through the improvements in the analysis process and financially through decreased spending.

Required Skills

The incumbent receives general guidance from Laboratory Director. Long term objectives are established and agreed upon with the supervisor in accordance with corporate goals and objectives. Intermediate sequences are determined by the incumbent with approval from laboratory

management. Results are reviewed regularly by laboratory management and status reports are provided to management as requested. The incumbent is responsible for the directions of activities in the laboratory including quality control and analyses of client actions of the incumbent have a moderate impact on the company and a significant impact on the department.

Work Environment

The incumbent works in a laboratory with proper lighting and temperature control. Working in the laboratory is necessary when evaluating the tasks of subordinates and explaining new techniques. The incumbent experiences occasional exposure to hot or heated oil and hot or boiling liquids. The incumbent works in a laboratory with increased temperatures near the ovens and range microwaves and dishwasher. The incumbent is required to wear laboratory coat or apron, hairnets and gloves when in laboratory areas. The incumbent can expect extended time spent on feet and in a standing position. The incumbent should be able to detect slight differences in variation in shades and colors as well as perceive major attributes in foods and beverages.
