Position Summary

The Commercial Service Electrician is a skilled, licensed field professional responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on commercial and residential service calls throughout the DMV service area. While the role is anchored in commercial work, the incumbent is expected to run both commercial and residential service calls as needs and scheduling require. The position serves as the primary customer-facing technical representative on assigned calls and is responsible for delivering technically proficient, code-compliant work while maintaining the highest standards of customer communication and satisfaction. The incumbent is also responsible for the direct mentorship and on-the-job training of assigned apprentices.

This position reports directly to the Service Manager and Assistant Service Manager, who oversees the residential and commercial service divisions and reports to the President and Vice President of the Company.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Technical and Field Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, fixtures, panels, and equipment in commercial and residential settings throughout the DMV service area.

Install conduit systems, feeder wire, and electrical panels in accordance with the NEC and applicable local codes.

and#149;

Troubleshoot electrical issues efficiently and provide code-compliant solutions, with detailed explanations of options and recommendations to customers.

Identify and resolve safety hazards and code violations during every service call.

and#149;

Repair or replace broken or faulty electrical equipment as required.

and#149;

Read and interpret electrical drawings, blueprints, and schematics for commercial and residential projects.

and#149;

Perform safety checks on electrical equipment to ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards and the NEC.

and#149;

Operate a company vehicle safely and in accordance with all applicable traffic laws and company vehicle policies.

Customer and Documentation Responsibilities

and#149;

Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professionalism, positive communication, and expert service.

and#149;

Identify and present additional service opportunities to support customer safety and satisfaction.

and#149;

Acquire all materials necessary to complete approved service calls and projects efficiently.

and#149;

Maintain accurate job records and complete all documentation accurately and promptly, including work orders, estimates, and service tickets.

Team and Mentorship Responsibilities

and#149;

Train, mentor, and provide hands-on guidance to assigned apprentices in commercial and residential electrical work, applicable codes, and safe work practices.

and#149;

Co municate clearly and consistently with the Service Manager, the office, and fellow team members throughout each service call.

and#149;

Adhere to all company policies, OSHA standards, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures always.

Contribute to a positive, safety-focused, and collaborative team culture.

Qualifications

Required

and#149;

Valid Maryland State Journeyperson Electrician License (or a valid license from a state with Maryland reciprocity), with a minimum of 3 years of commercial electrical experience.

and#149;

High School Diploma or GED.

and#149;

Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable Maryland codes.

and#149;

Demonstrated ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.

and#149;

Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

and#149;

Ability to pass a background check and drug test.

and#149;

Strong proficiency in English - both written and verbal - to ensure effective communication with customers, team members, and the office.

and#149;

Ability to work with hand tools and safely operate power tools.

and#149;

Ability to lift 50 pounds, squat, bend, and climb ladders as required by the job.

and#149;

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

and#149;

Willingness to travel daily within the DMV service area.

Preferred

and#149;

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

and#149;

CPR / First Aid certification.

and#149;

Experience with Service Fusion or similar field service management software.

and#149;

Residential electrical service experience - this role runs both commercial and residential calls, so dual experience is highly valuable.
