M&P Transport is the asset-based transportation division of M&P Logistics, a growing third-party logistics company headquartered in Florence, Kentucky. Our Transport division operates an expanding fleet of more than 40 drivers across the United States, supporting a variety of customers, freight types, and specialized transportation needs.

We are looking for an experienced Transportation Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of M&P Transport from our Florence headquarters. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with extensive CDL-A dispatch experience who understands how to manage drivers, equipment, customer expectations, safety, and profitability at the same time.

This position will work closely with the President of the company to continue developing and expanding the Transport division.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the day-to-day operations of M&P Transport and oversee a 40 driver fleet operating throughout the United States.
• Provide leadership and direction to the Transport team, including Dispatch and transportation-related Accounting functions.
• Oversee the dispatching and management of CDL-A drivers while ensuring loads are covered efficiently, safely, and profitably.
• Monitor fleet activity, driver schedules, load status, equipment utilization, and customer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, Hours of Service (HOS), driver qualification requirements, and company safety standards.
• Monitor driver hours and route planning to prevent HOS violations and reduce unnecessary downtime.
• Manage and troubleshoot operational challenges, including driver delays, equipment issues, customer changes, breakdowns, missed appointments, and other time-sensitive transportation issues.
• Work directly with drivers to provide clear expectations, resolve concerns, and maintain accountability.
• Review transportation performance and identify opportunities to improve fleet utilization, efficiency, service, and profitability.
• Understand and manage the division's P&L, including revenue, driver costs, equipment costs, operational expenses, and overall margins.
• Develop and implement plans to improve profitability without compromising customer experience, service quality, or safety.
• Analyze routes, customer commitments, driver utilization, and operating costs to make informed operational decisions.
• Work closely with Accounting to ensure driver pay, customer billing information, load documentation, and transportation expenses are accurate.
• Establish processes and accountability standards for Dispatch and other members of the Transport team.
• Help develop policies, procedures, workflows, and performance expectations as the division continues to grow.
• Partner directly with company leadership on strategic planning, customer needs, fleet growth, staffing, and operational improvements.
• Maintain strong communication between M&P Transport, M&P Logistics, drivers, customers, and internal departments.

Transportation Experience We’re Looking For

Candidates should have significant experience dispatching and managing CDL-A transportation operations.

Experience with several of the following is strongly preferred:

• Dry van
• Reefer
• High-cube trailers
• Conestoga trailers
• Step deck
• Specialized freight
• High-value freight
• Regional and over-the-road operations
• Multi-state fleet operations
• Time-sensitive or dedicated customer freight

Technology & Systems

This position requires someone who is comfortable learning and working within multiple transportation and business systems.

Experience with platforms such as the following is preferred:

• PCS or similar Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
• Samsara or other ELD, GPS, fleet tracking, and telematics systems
• Salesforce-based platforms or comparable CRM/business management systems
• Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook

You do not need to have used every system we use, but you must be comfortable learning technology and using system data to make operational decisions.

What We’re Looking For:

• Extensive experience in CDL-A truck dispatching, fleet operations, or transportation management
• Previous leadership or management experience within a transportation operation
• Strong working knowledge of DOT regulations and Hours of Service
• Experience managing drivers operating across multiple states
• Strong understanding of transportation costs, margins, and P&L management
• Ability to identify operational problems and develop practical solutions
• Ability to balance profitability with customer service, driver needs, and safety
• Strong organizational and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage multiple urgent situations without losing sight of larger operational priorities
• Strong communication skills when working with drivers, customers, leadership, and internal departments
• Comfortable holding employees accountable while maintaining a professional and productive team environment
• Ability to evaluate data and use it to improve fleet performance
• Experience building or improving transportation processes is strongly preferred

The Right Person for This Role

This is not strictly a dispatch position. We are looking for someone who understands dispatch at a detailed level but is ready to take ownership of the larger operation.

This position will have a significant role in shaping the continued growth of M&P Transport and will work directly with senior leadership to help determine the future direction of the division.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
