What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cost Accountant position at MÜNZING NORTH AMERICA?
This position is a key member of our finance team, with responsibility for accurately tracking and reporting all aspects of product profitability and costs. It reports to the Manager of Financial Planning, Reporting & Analysis. Key responsibilities include the reporting, development and analysis of sales, raw materials, manufacturing costs product profitability.
The position requires effective communication skills as it will provide analytical support to many different functions within the company. These functions include Plant Management, Product Management and Sales.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the accuracy of the cost accounting records and reports. Perform costing on new product, monthly costing run, annual cost update. Analyze any changes in product costs to determine its impact on profit margins
- Prepare and support month-end closings including WIP calculation, production order settlement, costing update and reporting of inventory and production cost
- Track and analyze costs associated with production. Work with plant management to identify cost saving opportunities
- Analysis variances of raw material, labor and manufacturing overheads as well as sales volume and product mix
- Analyze, monitor and calculate product profitability from sales down to gross profit
- Review inventory balances including valuation, slow moving and obsolescent inventory and DSI for management
- Monitor and report on capital spending, fixed assets and depreciation
- Perform special financial projects and analyses as required financial and strategic reviews
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or realted field with accounting concentration
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting
- Experience with manufacturing preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to interact with all levels of employees and outside vendors
- Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Advanced technological skills with Microsoft Office programs, especially Microsoft Excel
- Experience with SAP or othe ERP system
