Key Responsibilities

Slitting / Rewinding

• Machine Operation
  • Set up, operate, and monitor slitter/rewinder equipment to cut film rolls to correct widths, lengths, and tolerances.
  • Adjust lay-on rollers, tension controls, blades, and core sizes to meet order requirements.
  • Perform changeovers quickly and accurately, minimizing downtime.
• Quality Assurance
  • Inspect film for defects such as gauge variance, print misalignment, or contamination.
  • Verify roll quality against specifications (gauge, width, footage, core, packaging).
  • Document quality checks and escalate issues to Quality/CI Manager when necessary.
• Safety & Maintenance
  • Follow all CPG safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and PPE use.
  • Conduct basic preventative maintenance and cleaning of slitters.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and assist Maintenance as needed.
• Production Efficiency
  • Record production data (footage, downtime, scrap) accurately in tracking systems.
  • Collaborate with scheduling, press, and extrusion teams to maintain flow.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives under the Columbia Performance Excellence System (CPEX).
• Housekeeping
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Dispose of scrap properly and ensure finished rolls are staged for shipping or warehouse transfer.
• Various responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor

Press Assistant

• Assist press operators in setup and changeovers (mounting plates, loading aniloxes, inks, and substrates).
• Handle raw material rolls: stage, load, and splice film onto press.
• Mix inks and solvents under guidance of press operator or ink room.
• Monitor print quality and notify operator of potential defects.
• Keep press area clean, organized, and stocked with materials.
• Safely operate roll trucks, hoists, or lifting equipment when required.

Shared Responsibilities

• Follow all CPG safety standards, including lockout/tagout, PPE, and proper lifting.
• Support continuous improvement activities under the Columbia Performance Excellence System (CPEX).
• Maintain good communication with supervisors, operators, and Quality/CI.
• Perform general housekeeping to sustain a clean and organized work area.
