Duties
- Safely operate a cargo van, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards.
- Load, secure, and unload cargo using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks when necessary.
- Plan and follow efficient delivery routes using mobile devices for navigation and route optimization.
- Load and unload goods with proper manual lifting practices, ensuring safety and weight distribution.
- Provide exceptional customer service by delivering packages promptly and professionally, addressing customer inquiries courteously.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, delivery documentation, and vehicle inspection records throughout each shift.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety, cleanliness, and operational readiness.
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or courier, preferably with warehouse experience or commercial driving background.
- Familiarity with box trucks or cargo vans, including manual transmission operation.
- Ability to handle heavy lifting safely while following safe lifting practices in accordance with workplace standards.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, material handling equipment operation, and moving procedures.
- Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record; experience with route driving is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate mobile devices for navigation, communication, and route updates effectively.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations related to weight handling in the workplace, hours of service, and safety compliance.
