JOB GOAL:
To structure the learning environment to study the integrated Engineering and Technology Education program outlined by the LRSD Curriculum Guides and Arkansas Department of Workforce Education curriculum frameworks. Career Development is a course designed to provide the student with the opportunity to explore and assess his/her abilities and interests in terms of career/educational alternatives.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Nine and one-half (9.25) month contract (190 days), plus benefit package. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience. FLSA: EXEMPT.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university.
- Valid Arkansas teaching certificate in Career Development (418).
- Teaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge of current instructional software programs used in business education curriculum frameworks and ability to work with new software in an independent fashion.
- Demonstrates proficiency in computers and written communications skills.
- Evidence of ability to troubleshoot computer software and hardware problems.
- Willingness to attend training sessions as applicable to courses being taught.
- Demonstrates a willingness to work in a collaborative team approach with teachers and students.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of strong organizational skills.
- Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education.
Such alternatives and additions to the above qualifications may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may require.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with those goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the expectations of the curriculum frameworks outlined by the Arkansas Department of Workforce Education, Business /Marketing Education program.
- Directs, instructs, and evaluates the learning experiences of the students in both curricular and extracurricular activities.

Mental Functions, Physical Requirements, and Working Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, go up and down stairs, operate foot and hand controls, use a telephone and write. Occasionally the employee must lift and/or move up to twenty (20) or more pounds. This position requires accurate perceiving of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, handling and working with educational materials and/or objects, and providing oral information. Must have the ability to work for the duration of the daily contracted time period, and to be physically present and at assigned work, with only infrequent unexcused absences, during the contract year. Additional technical skills, knowledge, and abilities may be recommended by immediate supervisor and approved by the Human Resources Director.
