Responsibilities
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system efficiently to process transactions accurately and swiftly.
- Greet customers warmly, answer questions, and assist with product inquiries to enhance their shopping experience.
- Handle cash, credit, and mobile payments with precision, ensuring proper cash handling and balancing registers at shift end.
- Upsell products and suggest add-ons through engaging product demos and friendly communication to increase sales.
- Maintain clean and organized checkout areas, stock shelves, and ensure merchandise is well-presented through effective merchandising and stocking techniques.
- Provide excellent phone etiquette when taking orders or answering inquiries from customers or vendors.
- Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels, conducting product demos when appropriate, and supporting restocking efforts.
Experience
- Previous retail sales or cashiering experience preferred, especially within grocery stores or convenience retail environments.
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic retail math for accurate cash handling and transaction processing.
- Supervising experience is a plus, demonstrating leadership in managing team tasks or training new staff.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are highly valued to serve diverse customer bases.
- Knowledge of grocery store operations including merchandising, stocking, and product placement strategies.
