What are the responsibilities and job description for the Agricultural Equipment Operator position at M & G Mathis Partnership?
We need seasonal employees to assist with our corn, wheat, sorghum, and cotton crop production season, performing all duties required to successfully plant, grow, maintain, and harvest these crops. Responsibilities include preparing fields for planting; attaching farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, and harvesters to tractors; and operating a wide range of equipment including tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, manure spreaders, irrigation systems, and combines. Employees will engage in all stages of crop production, including planting, weeding, spraying, cultivating, fertilizing, and harvesting, as well as applying fertilizer and pesticide solutions using hand sprayers to manage insects, fungus, weeds, and crop diseases. Duties also include installing, maintaining, and repairing pivot irrigation systems; monitoring machinery during operation to detect malfunctions; manipulating controls to set, activate, and adjust equipment; and recording required agricultural production data. Workers must drive farm semi-trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools; maneuver trucks safely into loading and unloading positions; couple and uncouple trailers; check mechanical and safety systems; perform basic vehicle maintenance and emergency roadside repairs; and maintain clean, debris-free vehicles. Additional responsibilities include inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical and electrical equipment; disassembling and cleaning defective machinery or parts; fabricating or replacing components using hand tools, machine tools, and welding equipment; and reassembling and testing equipment to ensure proper operation. Employees must be able to work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively to support the full cycle of our crop production season. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Employer may also, at its sole discretion, offer performance-based incentive bonuses that are not guaranteed and are determined by the employer.
