Cost Accountant II

Summary

This position reports to the Controller and supports various accounting and finance functions, including product costing, inventory control, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close. The role also assists with pricing, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Support establishment of material, freight, labor, and overhead standards; perform monthly variance analysis.
• Prepare performance records and contribute to sales and cost forecasts.
• Maintain product pricing and cost data; audit bill of materials accuracy.
• Reconcile monthly freight costs and ensure proper accruals.
• Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations.
• Prepare standard journal entries, confirm COGS accuracy, and generate reports for month-end close.
• Provide pricing support to the sales team.
• Participate in process-improvement projects.
• Assist with physical inventories, cost rolls, and year-end reporting.
• Support cycle count accuracy and inventory controls.
• Assist with annual budgets and ongoing forecast updates.
• Help resolve past-due receivables and ensure timely payment of invoices.
• Reconcile intercompany accounts and prepare balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 3 years of progressive accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Preferred: CPA and familiarity with ERP/financial systems (e.g., SAP, Infor XA, OneStream).
