Description
Position Purpose
The purpose of an Assistant Buyer is to support the Buyers in all aspects of the purchasing process, including product selection, vendor communication, inventory management, and order placement. This position reports to the Senior Buyer.
Tasks
- Run and review regular suggested order reports, create POs and place orders.
- Log orders in the PO Tracking sheets
- Submit sku loading and update needs to the Sku Maintenance sheet
- Review order confirmations and update purchase orders accordingly for quantity and price
- Communicate with vendors and share relevant information with other support departments and operations.
- Attend meetings with Vendors along with the buyers as requested.
- Support receiving warehouses when checking in orders as needed
- Create inter store transfers
- Create special orders as needed
- attend regular meetings with supervisor
- Follow up with vendors to resolve issues with orders as needed
- Any other tasks required as determined by management
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must have 2 years of relevant experience in procurement or experience at M&D.
Work Requirements

- Physical requirements: Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
- Visual acuity requirements: Assistant Buyers are required to have the visual acuity to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment. They must be able to operate machines such as computers, POS Programs, Eagle Browser, open office where the seeing job is at or within arm’s reach.
Working Conditions
Assistant Buyers are subject to atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odor, dust, mists, gasses, or poor ventilation. The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat, or exposure to chemicals.
