Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional administrative support in a fast-paced medical office environment. This role involves managing patient interactions, coordinating appointments, and ensuring the smooth operation of the front desk. A strong understanding of medical terminology and experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems are essential for success in this position.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Manage incoming calls using multi-line phone systems, addressing inquiries and directing calls appropriately.
  • Schedule patient appointments and maintain an organized calendar.
  • Verify patient insurance information and perform insurance verification.
  • Collect payments and manage medical collections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Review documentation for accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
  • Assist with medical billing processes and coordinate with insurance companies for claims processing.
  • Utilize various EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix to manage patient data effectively.
  • Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and data entry using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Support the healthcare team by preparing care plans and assisting with patient intake processes.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and billing practices is essential.
  • Proficiency in using EHR systems; experience with Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills including typing proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient service and phone etiquette.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply as it enhances communication with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
