Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Manage incoming calls using multi-line phone systems, addressing inquiries and directing calls appropriately.
- Schedule patient appointments and maintain an organized calendar.
- Verify patient insurance information and perform insurance verification.
- Collect payments and manage medical collections as needed.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Review documentation for accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes.
- Assist with medical billing processes and coordinate with insurance companies for claims processing.
- Utilize various EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix to manage patient data effectively.
- Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and data entry using Microsoft Office applications.
- Support the healthcare team by preparing care plans and assisting with patient intake processes.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative support role is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and billing practices is essential.
- Proficiency in using EHR systems; experience with Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Strong computer skills including typing proficiency and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on patient service and phone etiquette.
