What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Habilitation Staff position at M'AGINE SUPPORT SERVICES,LLC?
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Guide consumers to be self-directed and independent by ensuring their active involvement in the activities at the facility and in the community.
- Communicate/coordinate with consumers, parents/guardians, outside agencies and staff regarding needs for further consumer training & support.
- Assist consumers in daily activities which include changing clothes, feeding, changing diapers and help in the bathroom.
- Coordinate & implement consumer community interactions through the participation in community events & activities.
- Supervise the implementation of approved behavior-building programs per consumer’s team agreement. Document in Consumer Charts daily and accurately.
- Implement & document individual program plan training including both formal & incidental learning objectives.
- Notify administrative staff immediately of unusual incidents. Submit written incident reports as required by company policy.
- Attend in-service training sessions as scheduled.
- Complete data collection, observation notes & daily reports as instructed.
- Assess the development of the consumer’s abilities & interests to provide information for their Personal Support/Habilitation Plan. Must engage with consumers in scheduled classroom with daily activities.
- Promote effective & professional relationships with consumers, their families/guardians, advocates and community members.
- Promote independence, choice and empowerment of consumers.
- Must remain calm in stressful situations.
- Exercise judgment & initiative in providing services to consumers.
- Follow oral & written direction.
- Provide support for persons with potentially aggressive behaviors.
- Communicate effectively, clearly and concisely with consumer, consumer families, supervisor, co-workers, and administrative staff.
- Project a positive image at all times.
- Transport consumers in company vehicle to and from homes, appointments, or as needed.
- Work with co-workers as a team to ensure success.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
- Minimum of one year experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate a knowledge of job skills
- Valid Texas Driver License preferred
- CPR and Safety Care Training preferred
Physical Demands:
- Physically lift 40-100 pounds unassisted
- Physically lift 100 pounds or more assisted
- Reach above head and below knees
- Endure repetitive motions with right and left hands
- Reach out as to pull and push a wheelchair
Shift Hours: 9:00 AM -3:00 PM
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $8.50 per hour
