LZ Technology (LZT) is seeking seasoned Flight Software Architect and Systems Engineer to support NASA’s Lunar Gateway program. The Gateway will orbit the Moon, serving as a hub for lunar missions and deep space exploration. This role focuses on leading technical efforts in flight software architecture, autonomous systems, and data engineering across multiple vehicle systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design and analysis of flight software systems, data flow, and autonomous behaviors
- Evaluate and communicate software architecture concepts and implementation strategies
- Analyze system-level and device-level data flow, throughput, and adaptive data management
- Perform systems engineering across vehicle subsystems and ground support domains
- Support manual and autonomous mission planning for flight operations
- Coordinate flight software issues across programs and engineering teams
- Interface with NASA, international partners, and contractors
- Participate in program reviews and provide feedback on software design and risks
- Support verification and validation activities, including root cause analysis
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
- B.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 10–15 years of experience in systems engineering and/or software systems engineering
- Expertise in software architecture and common frameworks
- Strong data analysis skills
- Excellent communication, coordination, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- M.S./PhD in relevant engineering discipline
- Experience integrating data products with software
- Background in human-rated, safety-critical flight software
- Knowledge of autonomous systems, distributed systems, fault management, and mission planning
- Familiarity with Time-Triggered Ethernet (TTE)
- Experience with cybersecurity assessments for embedded systems
- Proven ability to coordinate technical issues across engineering teams
