Electrical Drafter

Job Summary

The Electrical Drafter at Lywood Automation is a precise and detail-focused professional responsible for producing technical drawings, schematics and submittals that support the design, installation, and integration of automation and control systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with client expectations and industry standards. The Electrical Drafter works closely with engineers and project managers to develop drawings that serve as the foundation for successful project execution.

• PREFERRED: Associate’s degree or technical certification in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field. 2 years of Auto CAD electrical experience or in equivalent software.

• REQUIRED: 2 years of experience in automation, electrical, or control systems.

Skills

• Working knowledge of drafting, preferably in automation, electrical, or control systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, E PLAN, or similar CAD software.
• Familiarity with electrical schematics, panel layouts, and control system drawings.

Duties & Tasks

• Create detailed technical drawings and schematics for automation and control systems using CAD and other design tools.
• Collaborate with engineers, the Drafting team, Manufacturers, 

and project managers to ensure designs align with project requirements, specifications, and site conditions.

• Revise and update existing drawings to reflect client feedback, field changes, or updated project scopes.
• Ensure all drawings comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and internal quality guidelines.
• Organize and maintain an accurate and complete library of all drafting documents, drawings, and design files.
• Prepare and compile submittal packages for client review, ensuring all required documents are included and meet project specifications.
• Review submittal documentation for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project timelines.
• Coordinate with the programming, engineering, and field teams to clarify drawing requirements and support project execution.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards and workflows within the department.
• Support the project closeout process by submitting final as-drawn and as-built drawings and updated documentation as required.
