The Experienced Break Operator at Lyon Metal Roofing’s Piney Flats, TN location plays a key role in shaping and forming metal roofing components with precision and consistency. Reporting directly to the Plant Lead, this position is ideal for a detail-oriented, safety-conscious professional with proven experience operating press brakes and other metal-forming equipment. The Break Operator ensures all products meet quality specifications while maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
Key Responsibilities:
Brake Operation:
Operate press brake machines to bend, form, and fabricate metal panels and trim components according to specifications and production requirements.
Precision & Quality Control:
Verify measurements, tolerances, and alignment to ensure finished products meet company and customer quality standards.
Setup & Adjustment:
Set up tooling, adjust machine settings, and perform first-article inspections to confirm accuracy before full production runs.
Maintenance:
Conduct routine checks and preventive maintenance on brake equipment to ensure reliable operation and minimize downtime.
Safety Compliance:
Follow all safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times. Maintain awareness of surroundings and report any potential hazards immediately.
Production Efficiency:
Monitor workflow to meet production targets, proactively addressing bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the process.
Collaboration:
Work closely with team members, including Machine Operators and the Plant Lead, to coordinate production schedules and maintain consistent output.
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to process enhancements by suggesting and implementing improvements in setup, tooling, or workflow.
Documentation:
Accurately record production quantities, measurements, and any quality or maintenance issues in accordance with company procedures.
Work Area Upkeep:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, ensuring tools and materials are properly stored and readily available.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
2 years of experience operating a press brake or similar metal-forming equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret technical drawings and measurements.
Excellent attention to detail and quality assurance skills.
Ability to lift, move, and handle metal materials safely (up to 50 lbs).
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a production team.
Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
Willingness to cross-train on other machinery and production tasks as needed.
