Job Summary
The Physical Therapist is responsible for providing clinically appropriate physical therapy services to Lyon-Martin clients within the scope of their licensure both through in clinic visits and through home visits. We expect the Physical Therapist to act as a clinical leader, promoting holistic care, helping to grow the overall practice, and contributing to integrated collaborative care to optimize therapeutic outcomes. They, along with all staff at Lyon-Martin, are expected to uphold and imbue in others a commitment to addressing racism, ableism, gender and sexual discrimination within the organization and our clinical practice.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive physical therapy, within the scope of credentialed privileges, to Lyon-Martin clients, documenting care promptly and following charting protocols and applicable CA state licensing requirements.
- Possesses strong clinical knowledge of and commitment to healthcare for trans, non-binary gender non-conforming, and intersex people, LGBQA communities, and cis-gender women.
- Develops a continuity panel of clients.
- Completes patient sessions in a timely manner.
- Analyzes and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses and treatment plans within scope of licensure.
- Maintain productivity standards as assigned by supervisor through appropriate scheduling and monitoring of no-show rate (7 patients per each 4 hour session).
- Work with leadership team to envision and expand Chronic Pain Management and Integrative Care program at the clinic overall.
- Work collaboratively with mental health and medical staff to facilitate integration and to improve patient outcomes.
- Provides de-escalation to clients who may become triggered during session and link them to care.
- Fosters safety, consistency, and connection with clients.
- Document visit notes and client interaction completely in an accurate, detailed, and timely manner (within 72 hours, ideally within 24 hours), responses to in basket messages in a timely manner (within 72 hours, ideally within 24 hours), following charting protocols and applicable CA state licensing requirements.
- Follows through on commitments with clients and colleagues.
- Comply with all aspects of Lyon-Martin Policies and Procedures applicable to Staff members as well as all agreements with insurers and other entities that contain provisions applicable to or affecting the duties and responsibilities of Medical Staff; and all applicable statutes, regulations, governmental agency guidelines, and non-governmental oversight body requirements that place requirements on Lyon-Martin.
- Maintain availability for various administrative/clinical duties. Such duties may include case presentations; in-service training to staff; supervision of students, interns, residents; leadership/consultation to agency committees; attendance/speaking at fundraising events, etc.
- Complete all mandatory trainings on an annual basis.
- Communicate inventory/ordering needs to leadership team as needed.
- Works closely with Operations team and care coordinators to follow applicable eligibility and billing protocols.
- Comply with all aspects of Lyon-Martin Policies and Procedures applicable to Staff members as well as all agreements with insurers and other entities that contain provisions applicable to or affecting the duties and responsibilities of Medical Staff; and all applicable statutes, regulations, governmental agency guidelines, and non-governmental oversight body requirements that place requirements on Lyon-Martin.
- May be required to work some evenings

Education, Knowledge, Skills:
Education/Licensure
- Post-graduate degree from an accredited physical therapy institution (DPT)
- Valid CA physical therapy license
Experience
Required:
- At least 1 year in practice as a licensed physical therapist
- Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Certification preferred
- Culturally sensitive/humble and able to work with a diverse population
- Experience working with lesbian, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and intersex clients.
- Experience working with populations with varying disabilities, racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and economic statuses.
- Experience working with clients who do sex work, those experiencing homelessness, people who have challenges with mental illness and/or are using substances, those of with a history of incarceration, people of varying ages.
Preferred:
- Bilingual in English & Spanish or other non-English language.
