Position Summary

Lyon College invites applications for the position of Assistant Director of Financial Aid. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, this position assists with the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs while providing excellent service to students and families throughout the financial aid process.

The Assistant Director is responsible for processing financial aid records, evaluating student eligibility, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, and supporting the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Counsel students and families regarding financial aid options, loan programs, and application requirements.
• Process and review FAFSA and other financial aid records.
• Evaluate student eligibility for federal, state, institutional, and private financial aid programs.
• Assist with awarding, revising, and monitoring student financial aid.
• Process data transmissions and reports with the U.S. Department of Education.
• Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
• Communicate financial aid information with the Business Office and other campus departments.
• Assist with financial aid disbursement and reconciliation processes.
• Supervise Federal Work-Study students.
• Participate in outreach events and provide financial aid presentations as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• One year of experience in higher education, financial aid, customer service, or a related field.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial aid or higher education.
• Experience working with student information systems or database software.
• Knowledge of federal student aid programs and regulations.
