We are an energetic team, looking for a partner to own the people operations side of things. About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and dynamic HR Manager to join our leadership team and build our human resources function from the ground up. This is a critical role that will oversee all aspects of HR for our growing team of delivery associates, dispatchers, fleet managers, and operations staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in logistics, transportation, or similar high-volume hourly workforce environments and be comfortable in a fast-paced, operations-focused setting.Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for recruitment, onboarding, compliance, employee relations, benefits administration, and creating a culture that attracts and retains top talent for a ~100 person organization. In your cover letter, please highlight any experience you have with logistics, transportation, or high-volume hourly workforce management.We look forward to hearing from you!Job DescriptionKey ResponsibilitiesRecruitment & OnboardingLead full-cycle recruitment for delivery associates, managers, and support staff, maintaining a healthy hiring pipeline with 2 drivers per route (approximately 70-80 drivers)Develop and execute recruiting strategies using job boards, social media, referral programs, and community partnershipsManage the complete onboarding process including background checks (via Accurate), drug testing (4-panel for onboarding, 5-panel post-accident), MVR checks, I-9 verification, and Amazon system enrollmentCoordinate DOT driver qualification process for regulated drivers, including medical exams, safety performance history investigations, and DOT training complianceDesign and deliver new hire orientation programs that set clear expectations and promote company cultureCompliance & Policy ManagementEnsure full compliance with Amazon DSP Program Policies, federal employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA), state labor laws, and DOT regulationsDevelop and maintain employee handbook covering all required policies including anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, equal opportunity employment, grievance mechanisms, and worker safetyMaintain accurate employee files (paper and electronic) with all required documentation, ensuring secure storage and proper retention schedulesCoordinate with DSP Navigator Program for labor and employment legal support and utilize the HR hotline for day-to-day workforce management challengesOversee OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping and reporting requirementsPayroll & Benefits AdministrationPartner with ADP/Paycom for seamless payroll processing, time tracking, and scheduling operationsAdminister health insurance benefits, ensuring competitive offerings that attract and retain talentManage PTO program (minimum 0.04 hours per hour worked, 120-hour cap) and ensure accurate tracking and payouts upon terminationEnsure pay accuracy from day one with clear communication of compensation structure, overtime calculations, bonuses, and incentive programsAdminister Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and other wellness initiativesEmployee Relations & CultureBuild and maintain positive employee relations, creating feedback loops and communication channels where delivery associates feel heard and valuedInvestigate and resolve employee concerns, grievances, and workplace conflicts fairly and promptlyImplement recognition and incentive programs including driver bonuses and team-building activitiesDevelop career advancement pathways, including Lead DA programs for high-performing driversConduct exit interviews and analyze turnover data to identify retention opportunitiesTraining & DevelopmentCoordinate Amazon's mandatory training programs including KNet virtual courses, Enhanced Road Test (ERT), DOT driver training, and AMXL-specific trainingEnsure managers and workers receive appropriate training on company policies, safety procedures, and Amazon's Supply Chain StandardsTrack training completion rates and compliance with Amazon's training requirementsDevelop internal training programs for leadership development and operational excellenceSafety & Risk ManagementCoordinate post-accident drug and alcohol testing within required timeframesManage reasonable suspicion testing protocols and documentationPartner with operations on safety incident investigations and follow-up actionsSupport workers' compensation claims and disability leave managementHR Systems & ReportingMaintain employee data in Amazon DSP Portal and manage driver credentials and accessGenerate HR metrics and reports including headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, training compliance, and workforce analyticsSupport business planning with workforce forecasting as the company scales to 40 vans and beyondQualificationsWhat You BringExperience: 3-5 years of HR experience, preferably logistics, transportation, or other high-volume recruitment environment. Experience with the Amazon DSP ecosystem (Cortex portal) is highly preferred.Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field (SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a major plus).Autonomy: Proven ability to make high-judgment decisions regarding terminations and legal compliance without daily supervision. Experience building HR programs and policies from the ground up. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle sensitive situations with discretionLocal Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, state wage and hour laws)Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce of 50–100 Delivery Associates and corporate employees.Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment with flexibility for occasional early morning, evening, or weekend coverageAdditional InformationNote: Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) provide contracted delivery services to Amazon and are independent employers.
